Después de tanto tiempo de búsqueda y problemas, hoy estamos muy emocionados porque ya os podemos anunciar que hemos encontrado el lugar ideal para empezar el nuevo Santuario Gaia.
El terreno tiene una superficie de 23 hectáreas. Se encuentra en el municipio de #Camprodon (#Girona), en un espacio protegido de la Alta Garrotxa, en pleno Pirineo. Por él pasan dos riachuelos donde los habitantes del Santuario podrán beber y bañarse cuando lo deseen. Hay prados con mucho pasto y bosques con robles centenarios. Tiene algunas instalaciones para los animales y una vivienda que será destinada a los voluntarios de larga duración. Reanudaremos el programa de voluntariado una vez que estemos totalmente instalados y que los habitantes del Santuario se hayan adaptado debidamente.
Ahora comenzamos con unos meses muy duros de mudanza, que iremos haciendo poco a poco para que los habitantes del Santuario no se estresen. Ya están con nosotros Samuel, Victoria, Paula y Lidia, disfrutando de este maravilloso paraíso. Ismael y Coque, los fundadores del Santuario, también se han ido a vivir allí a una cabañita de 33 metros cuadrados que era un antiguo cobertizo para cabras, para así poder trabajar ya allí en ir arreglando el terreno. De momento están sin luz, por lo que no tienen internet, así que os pedimos que durante este tiempo seáis comprensivos y pacientes, porque no podrán atender los mensajes ni los emails. Intentaremos por todos los medios que la página de facebook esté actualizada cada día para que no os perdáis nada. Los fundadores han decidido que van a vivir ahí junto con los 7 perros y los 4 gatos del Santuario, y aunque va a ser muy pequeñito para todos, pero quieren vivir así para convertir esa zona en el recinto de cuarentena para los nuevos habitantes que vayan llegando, así poderlos tener bien atendidos.
En cuanto hayamos acabado con toda la mudanza y la adaptación de los habitantes al nuevo hogar, comenzaremos de nuevo con las visitas. Lo anunciaremos en cuanto tengamos las fechas, pero pensad que tardaremos unos meses, así que tened paciencia.

WE’VE GOT THE NEW SANCTUARY!!!
After looking for so long and countless problems, today we’re really overjoyed because we can finally announce that we found the ideal place to start the renewed Santuario Gaia.
It’s a 23 hectares (56 acres) piece of land. It’s located in the municipality of #Camprodon (#Girona), within a protected area in the Alta Garrotxa, right on the Pyrenees. Two streams flow through the land of the new Sanctuary, where the residents of the Sanctuary could drink or have a bath if they wish. There are meadows full of pasture and woods with ancient oak trees. There are some barns for the animals and a house for long-term volunteers. The volunteering scheme will resume once we’re fully settled and the residents of the Sanctuary have adapted to their new home.
Now we have some difficult months ahead of us due to the relocation. We intend to carry it out step by step so that the residents of the Sanctuary don’t stress out.. Samuel, Victoria, Paula and Lidia are already with us, enjoying this wonderful paradise. Ismael and Coque, founders of the Sanctuary, have also moved there to a 33sqm hut that used to be a goats shed, so they can start working and building the new Sanctuary. They don’t have access to electricity yet, nor Internet connection, therefore we are asking you to be understanding and patient because they won’t be able to answer to your messages or emails. We’ll try by all means to update the Facebook page on a daily basis so that you don’t miss anything. The founders of the Sanctuary have decided to live in the hut with the 7 dogs and 4 cats of the Sanctuary. It will be a bit tiny for them all, but they have chosen to do so because this area can be turned into the quarantine area for the new arrivals. This way they can be monitored and looked after 24 hours a day.
As soon as we complete the relocation and adaptation period of the residents to their new home, we will resume the visits to the Sanctuary. We’ll announce the open days as soon as we get the dates organised, but please bear in mind this will take a few months, so be patient.
