Últimamente estábamos un poco preocupados con Pedro porque se estaba volviendo muy bruto con nosotros. Hasta tal punto que a los voluntarios les dimos indicaciones de no tocarlo mucho para no excitarlo.
Como era tan bebé, para protegerlo y que nadie le hiciera daño sin querer, lo hemos tenido apartado del resto en el recinto de la enfermería. Solo salía para estar un ratito con Samuel por las mañana mientras los fundadores del Santuario estaban delante vigilando.
Desde esta semana ya pasa el día completamente fuera junto con los demás habitantes del Santuario, pero sobre todo con Samuel, que no se aparta de él y durante todo el tiempo le lame todo el cuerpo mientras Pedro se deja mimar.
Queremos compartir esta experiencia con vosotros porque es muy emocionante ver como Samuel cuida de Pedro todo el tiempo, y no como un hermano mayor, sino como haría una madre. Todos estos cuidados y cariño que le está dando Samuel a Pedro, ha hecho que se calme, y es que hasta le ha cambiado la mirada, que se ha vuelto más tierna aún.
Los dos están muy felices de estar juntos, viviendo momentos que a los humanos que estamos en el Santuario, se nos graban a fuego en el corazón. Momentos de ternura, amor, paz y justicia, que ojalá todos los animales lo pudieran experimentar. Lo que nos hace coger más fuerzas para seguir luchando por construir un mundo mejor para todos.

Pedro’s personality is changing.
We’d been a bit worried lately because Pedro was behaving a bit rudely with us, to the point that we had given clear instructions to volunteers not to touch him so that he wasn´t provoked.
Being just a baby, we had kept him in the infirmary area away from the others so that he was safe and could not be harmed. He just went out in the mornings to spend a bit of time with Samuel whilst the founders of the Sanctuary kept an eye on him.
Since this morning, he has been spending all day outdoors joining the other residents of the Sanctuary, but he specially stays with Samuel, who doesn’t get far away from him and spends the whole time licking Pedro whilst he enjoys the feeling of being pampered.
We wanted to share this experience with you because it’s very touching seeing how Samuel looks after Pedro all the time, not like an older brother would, but as a mother. All this tenderness and affection that Samuel is giving to Pedro is making him feel more relaxed, even his look has changed and has become even more tender.
They’re very happy being together, sharing moments that make the hearts of the humans who live in the Sanctuary mealt. Moments of tenderness, love, peace and justice. We wish all animals could feel that. This is what give us the strength to carry on fighting to build a better world for everyone.
